Andrew Sachs to join the cast of EastEnders

Fawlty Towers star Andrew Sachs is joining the cast of EastEnders.

The veteran actor of the much beloved comedy series, is said to be guest starring in a few episodes of the long-running BBC One soap opera in the new year.

An EastEnders spokesperson confirmed the casting news to the Daily Mirror.

Andrew became a household name in the Seventies following his hilarious turn as Manuel, the well-meaning but disorganised Spanish waiter in John Cleese's shortlived comedy series.

It's not the first soap opera the 80-year old has starred in, as he previously had a guest role in ITV1's Coronation Street.

Sachs plays the role of Ramsay Clegg, the half brother of Norris who blamed him for the death of their mother.

During his time on the show, Ramsay and Norris repair their relationship but eventually he was killed off after 27 episodes, as it was revealed his character was suffering from a terminal illness.
